White House Defends Exclusion of Hunter from Flight Manifests

(ReliableNews.org) – In the fall, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee demanded the National Archives turn over all of the records of Hunter Biden’s trips on Air Force Two and Marine Two when President Joe Biden was vice president. Now, the press wants to know why the White House leaves his family members off flight manifests when he travels with them.

On December 18, President Biden traveled to Delaware to attend mass at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Roman Catholic Church to mark the 51st anniversary of the deaths of his wife, Neilia, and one-year-old daughter, Naomi. The two died in a car accident while out buying a Christmas tree. Neilia was driving a station wagon with her three kids — Naomi, Hunter, and Beau — when she pulled in front of a tractor-trailer. The boys survived with injuries, but Beau died in 2015 from brain cancer.

After the church service, Biden visited the graves of his wife and daughter, as he does every year. The president was accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, their daughter Ashley, and Hunter, his son Beau, and his wife Melissa Cohen.

Later that day, a reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden arriving on Marine One that day. The journalist said that Hunter and his son were on the helicopter but not on the flight manifest. She asked why the president doesn’t include family members on the flight manifests when they travel with him.

Jean-Pierre said the president was with his family over the last couple of days because they were acknowledging a somber anniversary. She said she had nothing else to say about his family and moved on.

The House Republican Conference responded to the report that Hunter wasn’t listed on the flight manifest by asking, “What other manifests and visitor logs has Hunter Biden been left off of?”

On December 19, Jean-Pierre was asked if the president would start adding the family to the flight manifests moving forward. The press secretary said, “The family gets to travel with the president, and that’s been the case with every other president,” so they won’t be doing that in the future.
